Christmas Worship

Christmas is a special time for Christians to celebrate the coming of Jesus into this world. We recall the first Christmas in Bethlehem and we announce that the Light of the world has come to us today!

For Lutherans especially, Christmas Eve is the primary time to worship and celebrate this good news.

We are offering two in-person worship services on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24 at 5:30pm and at 7pm. The services will each last approximately 45 minutes, and will include candle-lighting, recorded carols, and the reading of the birth story from the bible.

We invite you to register now for your preferred Christmas Eve service time! If you need a ‘booking buddy’ please reach out for help so others can register for you.

Last year, we were unable to gather in-person. While circumstances have improved slightly this year with vaccinations, we all still live under the threat of COVID 19. Since we will not be asking for proof of vaccination to attend, we will need to keep strict protocols for capacity limits, masking and physical distancing. Please consider using this COVID SCREENING TOOL prior to attending your service.

The Christmas message is about a God who loved the world enough to become part of it, in Jesus. Our primary ethic therefore is one of care and love of the neighbour whom God loves. We worship not just to satisfy a private, individual need, but as an expression of care to those around us that are most vulnerable.

For those who are unable to attend in-person, one of the Christmas Eve services will be live-streamed online. We will provide details on our website in the weeks to come.

On Christmas Day, Saturday December 25, you can watch a pre-recorded service which will include a video presentation by this year’s confirmation class. Please see our website for details!

With best wishes and blessings for this coming Advent season!
