Confirmation class on Tuesday, December 17!

Hello everyone,
Here’s hopingĀ  your December is going well. It’s a busy and sometimes stressful time of year. But there are also opportunities to really enjoy some good times ….
Like Confirmation class on Tuesday, December 17!
Because of the special time of year, we are planning a little field trip — to St Luke’s Anglican Church. We hope to attend a short prayer service that starts at 5:30pm at St Luke’s. The service is about the meaning of Advent — that time leading up to Christmas when we slow down to think about what’s important. It’s sounds really neat because they will have some interesting musical instruments in the service. I think the experience, likely a little different from what we normally have in church, will be worth the drive downtown.
We are still wondering about where/how to eat together that evening — and are still open to suggestions. Following the service, we’ll want to eat and have some time to debrief our experience in that service and talk about the Old Testament stories that were mentioned in the service.
Questions I would like you to think about to discuss after the service are:
1. What stories from the Bible are mentioned?
2. Where in the Bible to these stories come from?
3. Describe the sounds and music you heard. What did you like?
4. What was happening during the times of silence? In you? In the room?
5. What do you think is the value of waiting for something you like? And, is this your experience of the Advent season? Why or why not?
6. What changes to our lives do you think we need to make in order to experience the true meaning of our faith, and this season?

We would want to leave Faith Lutheran Church no later than 5pm to get downtown in good time to find parking and get into the church. As we get closer to the day, I will send more emails to organize our drive downtown and back.
Please mark your calendars! It will be grand!
I’m attaching a poster to give you some idea of what to expect.
Peace,
Pastor Martin
