“12 neighbours” Midweek Lenten Conversations

Hello friends of Faith,

Every Lenten season (the seven weeks before Easter), the church has traditionally observed, collectively, an ‘extra’ discipline in addition to its regular Sunday worship. Some years ago, this took the form of a midweek worship service; other years, it was a book club, or a special study topic, stewardship project, or a film series, etc. This Lent, our focus will be in response to the question: “Who is our Neighbour?” This conversation will align with our Sundays-in-Lent speaker series “The Gospel in Action” where we invite representatives from local organizations in mission for others which Faith has supported over the years.

In this Lenten season we seek to renew relationships within our congregation, as well as build new relationships in mission for others. Our focus is not only inward, but outward as we reach out with love in the name of Christ to those we do not know yet. Please review the material below and consider joining us on this journey of conversation and renewal. There is no book or resource to purchase for this study. Each week will include a short film and small group questions and conversation. If you would like to preview the material, please follow the link here to a two-and-a-half minute YouTube video for a short introduction https://youtu.be/gUGKf40N_jo.

Given that we meet still in a pandemic and rely heavily on technology to assist our gatherings, I invite you to attend this weekly meeting Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm-8:30pm on Zoom with other members from Faith Lutheran, Julian of Norwich Anglican Church, Cityview United Church and Good Shepherd Anglican Church — all local congregations in our area of the city. The leadership from these congregations will share in the facilitation of the weekly gathering.

To attend, please contact me for the Zoom link at prmartinmalina@gmail.com.
