1. Centretown Churches Social Action Committee – Sunday, October 15 at 12 noon
Together participating in social projects and prayer for over 50 years, several congregations from various denominations will be walking approximately 3 kilometres around downtown on Sunday afternoon, Oct 15, to raise awareness of their mission to alleviate poverty in Ottawa. We will gather first at St Peter’s Lutheran Church on Sparks Street at noon to watch the first part of the Martin Luther movie with the confirmation class there. And then together we will walk downtown.
2. National Day of Prayer for Affordable Housing – Sunday, November 19 at 3pm City Hall, Ottawa
People from various religious affiliations gather together to pray for, and to celebrate the gift of safe and affordable housing in the City of Ottawa, for those who are most vulnerable in our society. Approximately 10,000 households in Ottawa are still on a waiting list to find appropriate housing. Multi-Faith Housing Initiative Ottawa (MHI) is hosting the event, with informal reception to follow, in the foyer of City Hall. Special Guests will address the gathering.
